Epigenetic inheritance in mammals

Our lab focuses on the molecular events governing pre- and post-natal mammalian development. Research is focused on three areas:

  1. epigenetic inheritance including an investigation of the developmental role of imprinted genes and the epigenetic mechanism(s) controlling their parental-origin specific expression in the embryo, placenta and postnatally.
  2. epigenetic inheritance at non-imprinted regions and the influence of the environment on epigenetic states.
  3. epigenetic control of genome function during development in a wider context with particular emphasis on the targeting of epigenetic states and the epigenetic management of retrotransposons.
