In the Niakan Lab, I study the role of developmental regulators in human embryonic stem cells and early human development. My project aims to use CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing to target key transcription factors associated temporally with pre-implantation development.

My previous research was at the Sheffield Centre for Stem Cell Biology where I carried out research into genetic abnormalities in long-term culture of human embryonic stem cells. Further, I also performed work on cell fate decisions of human embryonic stem cells, particularly in neural differentiation towards enteric nervous system.
