RESEARCH INTERESTS:

  • Molecular and cellular aspects of steroid hormone biosynthesis in general and control of progesterone secretion by the mammalian corpus luteum in particular.
  • The role of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in regulating female reproductive function (especially, luteolysis, maternal recognition of pregnancy and parturition)
  • Cellular mode of action of gonadotrophins [eg. LH, hCG] and arachidonic acid metabolites [eg. prostaglandin F2α and prostaglandin E2] in luteal tissue.
  • Steroid synthesis in non classical tissues e.g. bone
