I’m currently in my final year of the 4-year Wellcome Trust PhD programme in Mathematical Genomics and Medicine. In the lab of Dr Emma Davenport, I study the heterogeneity present in the immune response to deconvolute why some individuals have a much more severe response to a similar pathogenic challenge. I mainly focus on alternative transcript splicing, how this influences downstream molecular phenotypes in blood plasma, and the relationship of these with increased disease severity. Additionally, I am interested in the natural immune fluctuations present in the body during pregnancy.
