I am interested in helping establish the nascent field of International Biomedical Law which looks at the international governance of science and technology in the field of medicine. This field builds on the principles developed in International Human Rights Law, as well as the anticipatory duties of States in the field of International Environmental Law and on the law of the global commons. I have worked and published on the right to benefit from science, the anticipatory duties of States in the field of biomedicine and on the international regulation of the human genome. Most recently, I advised and wrote two reports for the Council of Europe's Steering Committee for Human Rights in the Field of Biomedicine and Health on human rights-based approaches to healthcare.
