I am developing wearable biosensors that enable the vaginal microbiome to be readily tested in at-home or point-of-care settings. The sensing technology is housed in a discreet wearable pad that non-invasively collects and screens discharged vaginal fluid for bacterial infections. Data from the sensor will be wirelessly transmitted to a smartphone and displayed to the user via an app. This tool could be used for preventing infections and improving treatment efficacy, particularly by patients suffering from recurrent infections.
