Imaging Reproduction, 16 March

Cambridge Reproduction Forum: Lent Term 2021

We invite you to an interactive forum on Imaging Reproduction. Visual dimensions of reproduction are central to the work of many members across our network. Whether you study fertility atlases or fetal imagery in abortion debates, whether you produce images of reproductive cells or use them in public health initiatives, the visual plays a key role. In this cross-disciplinary conversation we will share our experiences in order to build new networks and exchange insights about imaging reproduction at Cambridge.

Join our panel—a sociologist, a historian, a biologist and a demographer—to discuss the role of visual culture in research on reproduction. Our panellists will introduce illustrated case studies from their research and audience members will have a chance to share images, too. We will discuss the role imagery plays in presenting our research in academic and public outreach contexts, in posters, videos, publications, media interviews, Powerpoints and Zoom meetings. And we will discuss the role of images in how other people understand our work. What stories, stereotypes and expectations frame public perceptions of our research?

The Forum will take place on Zoom; to receive the meeting details, please register first at https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEqc-yvpzwoGdQ6cXZI8E9NWQfAErT_nQDb.
