Dr Sara Valdebenito

Sara keeps a position as a researcher and affiliated lecturer at the Institute of Criminology. In her new role, she has developed a research agenda focusing on reducing re-offending among individuals under parole/probation. Sara is leading two research project using probation data from London (UK) and Kentucky (US). She is currently exploring Machine Learning methods to develop algorithmic risk assessment tools that would offer inputs to design the conditions under which offenders should be supervised. As part of her academic duties at the Institute of Criminology, Sara has contributed with teaching, being in charge of the courses on Quantitative data analysis. She has also acted as a course convenor of the course Global Perspectives in Violence. Since 2015 she is an affiliated lecturer at the Social Sciences Research Centre at the University of Cambridge. In her capacity, she has been training postgraduate students from different disciplines to develop systematic reviews and meta-analysis.
