Dr Dmitriy Myelnikov

I am a historian of science, technology, and medicine, and my main research interest is in the interface between biomedicine and agriculture in the twentieth century. Among other topics, I have researched histories of genetic engineering in mammals, the cloning of Dolly the Sheep at the Roslin institute, and laboratory animal research regulation and embryo cryopreservation. I am currently developing a project on the history of embryo transfer in cattle. My focus is on the development of reproductive interventions across humans, laboratory animals and livestock species (especially in Cambridge), and on the impact embryo transfer and freezing had on moving animals across the globe and preserving rare breeds.
