We are delighted to congratulate Cambridge Reproduction member Dr Valentina Lorenzi for the award of the 2026 Beddington Medal by the British Society for Developmental Biology (BSDB). The medal is one of the UK's most prestigious early-career awards in developmental biology, recognising the best PhD thesis defended in the previous year.
Valentina received the award for her outstanding doctoral research investigating the development of the human reproductive system. Her work combined single-cell and spatial genomics approaches to create comprehensive maps of prenatal reproductive tract development, providing new insights into the cellular and molecular mechanisms that shape sexually dimorphic reproductive organs.
As a member of the Cambridge Reproduction community, Valentina's success reflects the strength of interdisciplinary reproductive research taking place across Cambridge.
Beyond her scientific achievements, the award also recognises Valentina's collaborative spirit, leadership, and commitment to public engagement in reproductive health.
