My research lies in an epistemological understanding of the concept of commons and its governance in the region of Central Asia (Kazakhstan). Its aim is to explain the role of intangible commons (cultures, identities and social capitals) along the state and market in the promotion of structural change of political economy in transition.

Academic interests: water resources governance, institutional reforms and collective action;  kinship, economics and public policy.
