Nienke Groskamp

My research focuses on the influence of esoteric religious movements, including Spiritualism, Christian Science, and New Thought, on reproduction in nineteenth-century America. More broadly, I am interested in the transfer of knowledge between religious and scientific contexts and in cultural conceptions of pregnancy, birth control and abortion.
